Global Gaming Solutions is pleased to announce the launch of our new Internal Audit and Assurance service. To lead the launch, Hannah McCune has joined the business as our Head of Internal Audit and Assurance.

With financial penalties running into the millions and licence suspensions/revcations rising, enforcement continues to be an established part of the regulatory landscape as opposed to being an exceptional event for the industry.

In an environment where the cost of getting it wrong has never been higher, Global Gaming Solutions has seen significant demand for an assurance programme that is not only comprehensive but practical and supportive in helping clients remediate identified failings.

Hannah’s experience from both sides of the table enables Global Gaming Solutions to offer a unique service. The internal audit will be assessed through a regulator’s lens, helping set the tone for what’s expected and thereafter, offering clients with valuable remediation plans and support that are operational, tailored and practical.

As a former Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) Inspector at the , (IOM GSC), Hannah has led some of the Commission’s highest-profile cases. Prior to her regulatory position, she spent over seven years in the private sector delivering hands-on compliance support to licence holders across multiple jurisdictions.

Comprehensive Assurance Across Key Markets

Whether you require an independent third-party AML audit gambling review or a full remote gambling license assurance review, our bespoke framework provides end-to-end operational protection:

  • Policy and Control Assessment: An assessment of existing policies and controls in line with the relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Testing Risk Assessments: Help understand whether your risk assessments are driving key decisions, by testing the application through practical assessments and player samples.
  • Evaluate the Effectiveness of Controls: Through document reviews, customer sampling, and conducting staff interviews, we’ll determine whether they are consistently applied and delivering the intended outcomes.
  • Mock inspections:  Our mock inspections have been designed to help set expectations, build team confidence, and remove uncertainty before an official inspection.
  • Board Reports: GGS delivers reports that drive change. They’re concise, visually engaging and designed with senior management and board meetings in mind.
  • Practical Remediation: From prioritising actions to tracking progress, we work alongside your team to ensure remediation is delivered on time, implemented effectively and meets regulatory expectations.

Why Independent Assurance Matters Now More Than Ever

Assurance is increasingly important as enforcement actions continue to intensify across the globe.

For example, the launch of the internal audit and assurance services comes at a particularly important time for Isle of Man licence holders, as we have seen an influx of enforcement cases from the IOM GSC to tighten its enforcement strategy; similar to what we have seen in the UK and Malta.

For example, the IOM GSC issued its largest civil penalty in 2025, of £5.6 million, discounted by 30% to £3.9 million. This year, the IOM GSC announced the introduction of the Gambling (Civil Penalties) Regulations 2026 to strengthen its powers to impose civil penalties on individuals. The new regulations will allow the IOM GSC to impose civil penalties up to £50,000 on those holding key roles such as Directors, senior management, the MLRO and AML/CFT Compliance Officer.

The UK Gambling Commission (UK GC) has also strengthened its enforcement framework. In October 2025, it introduced percentage-based penalties that could reach 15% or more of an operator's gross gaming yield, tying fines directly to revenue. The UK GC’s approach continues to intensify, with a £10 million financial penalty imposed in 2025, and another operator forced to exit the market entirely over AML failings.

Mark O’Neill, Managing Director of Global Gaming Solutions, said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Hannah to the team and offer a practical solution that helps operators manage their compliance issues with real-world regulatory experience and practical, ongoing support.”

“The service embodies our view as a business that independent assurance is no longer just good governance; it is an essential safeguard for protecting licenses, reputation, and long-term success.”

Hannah McCune, Head of Internal Audit and Assurance at Global Gaming Solutions, commented:

“I’m very excited to be working alongside such a talented group of professionals at Global Gaming Solutions. The business is well established in the sector, and I’m pleased we’re able to meet the ongoing demand of our clients.”

“My experience at the Gambling Supervision Commission has reaffirmed the importance of taking a proactive approach to compliance and has given me the tools to offer a framework that is comprehensive but practical. I believe the new Internal Audit and Assurance service stands alone in being able to offer a regulatory perspective and ongoing practical support for clients.”
